Subcontinental Helsinki‘Subcontinental Helsinki’ examines the concept of ethnic typography and how letterforms communicate cultural meaning in the context of subcontinental restaurants in Helsinki, Finland. 
        Using an intertwined approach, the project combines theory, documentation and artistic experiments. The study traces the history of ethnic typography, the visual strategies employed in its design and its implications. The photo-documentation is compiled into a publication that situates the project by cataloguing 15 subcontinental restaurants in capital region of Helsinki. The exhibition reflects on the theoretical study and found elements in the documentation through a series of visual experiments.
